How ideal does that sound? Im sure you’re all starting to see where we’re going with regards to all the products we love to back. Yes we believe in good products and we all love the finer things in life but does it really have to be all or nothing and does it have to be at the expense of our planet? The same theory applies to our skin… if we want to make a difference to our planet does it need to be at the expense of our skin? The answer is becoming more and more clear wouldn’t you say?

When I first looked at the products I was somewhat surprised that they were in solid states. The foaming cleanser and moisturising facial balm were both solid bars. Much like a bar of soap in fact. However, as I delved deeper into this I came to discover they are nothing like soap. 

Let's begin with the foaming cleanser. Most skincare products on the market are up to 80% water and with 844 million people lacking access to clean water this seems excessive and unnecessary. All that this products needs is a couple of seconds under the water and, hey presto, all my makeup was washed away and with a low PH (5.0-5.5) my skin felt amazing after. Furthermore, because this product is solid and therefore concentrated, used daily, it lasts up to 12 weeks! Now if that isn’t value for money what is? It also comes with a beautifully designed Diatomite Dish (a form of fossilised algae and plaster) which will adsorb any excess water and has mould resistant and anti bacterial properties. So clever right?!? I woke up the next morning to a brand new looking bar! 

The moisturising facial balm was my favourite! All I had to do was warm the bar in my hands for a couple of seconds to get it warmed up then apply it directly to my face. Zero waste! It’s so smooth and left my skin soft and hydrated but not sticky or greasy. Almost like a moisturiser and primer all in one. Perfect right before make up application. Again, used daily morning and night, the product is said to last 8-10 weeks. The balm also come with the chicest bamboo pot with a swivel lid and magnetic seal which keeps the bar in pristine condition not to mention making it super easy to travel with. 

All the packaging is 100% domestically compostable and use zero plastic. The products are cruelty and palm oil free, vegan and contain less than 0.5% water. If that wasn’t enough they are designed to perfection and looked great in any bathroom. They also come with a great travel pouch and because they are solid they can even go in your carry on! It’s honestly no wonder they have won so many beauty awards, SBTRCT really have thought of EVERYTHING!
