Is Morpheus8 as good as it's made out to be?
I’ve pretty much tried everything there is to try on the market as far as anti-ageing goes. From the smorgasboard of lasers to treat all types of skin conditions to facial threads and fillers and Botox. Have the results been life changing? Not really. Did I see dramatic results? Not really – and if I did, it didn’t last longer than a few weeks. So what happened when I trend the latest trend, Morpheus 8?
We’ve pretty much all heard about it thanks to the dramatic results seen by Tennis Coach, Judy Murray. But lets face it, she is in her 60s and has spent most of her time outside in the sun so I was intrigued to see how affective it would be for someone in their mid-forties who has looked after their skin.
Lets start off with what exactly is Morpheus8:
It’s a fractional skin treatment that stimulates collagen production by essentially causing trauma to the skin which promotes cell renewal and increased collagen production. This is turn massively improves skin laxity. The way Morpheus8 works is by creating micro-injuries on the skin with the micro needling, coupled with radiofrequency energy which heats the layers deep to the skin. These micro-injuries, in combination with the radiofrequency stimulate our natural collagen production over the next 3-6 months. Thus the elastin in the skin which tightens and thickens the supporting layers of skin. This killer cobo make sit the perfect treatment for sagging, lax and/or sun damaged skin of all types. This can be done on all areas of the face and neck including the delicate eye area and on all parts of the body. And the good news is that you only need to have between 2-3 sessions with just one top up treatment each year to maintain the results.
Here's what happened when I tried it for myself:
Like all these heat devices its really important that you choose a practitioner that knows what they are doing as in the wrong hands it can go terrible wrong. So, I popped along to Dr David Jacks clinic on Harley street to meet with the lovely Izabela Pawlitka – who by the way has amazing skin and loves doing the treatment on herself so she really believes in Morpheus8 and knows not only the benefits but also how it feels to have the treatment done. Whilst being numbed for an hour we talked about my areas of concern and decided to do the whole face and the neck and that two treatments would be enough.
I have to admit I was really nervous for some reason, I guess it was the idea of the deeper microneedles and the energy at the same time from the RF. However, I have to say it wasn’t that bad. As you’d expect the areas with less fat were a bit more sensitive and around the mouth area but Izabela was very gentle and whenever I needed to stop she gave me a few seconds to get ready. The whole area has two passes and in total takes around 20 minutes. I was a little red straight after the treatment but that went down after a few hours. Over the next few days I had very mild peeling and my face looked a bit tight and plump, which I kind of liked, overall, I’d say there was very little downtime. This was then repeated 6 weeks later but what I did notice with the second treatment is my skin tone and texture really started to look great, which was from the micro needling evening out my skin tone and diminishing any scars and light wrinkles.
Three months later and I caught myself in a mirror in a shop and noticed that my jawline really did look tighter and my overall skin condition was brighter and more plum looking. Out of all the treatments I have tried I really have to say that this is my favourite and one that I would kept up so my results last.
