Lalla - Can you keep on trend shopping cheap Ethically..??
Keeping on trend! Shopping ethically?.. What's your shop go to when keeping in the latest fashion looks?.....
Fast fashion buys are most people's go to when they are after that instant on trend fashion fix. However, I think Vintage Fairs and Car boots Sales are a great place to go to get that cheap on trend piece that is easier on the wallet and better for the planet!
Finding your pieces
Over the last few years I've found loads of bargains at vintage fairs and car boot sales in London, you really can’t beat that feeling of finding that piece that’s all over Instagram or in Grazia Magazine but you find it for £8 in a vintage fair or Car boot sale!
My first is the “Pop Up Vintage Fair” at St Stephens in Hampstead 5mins walk from my flat and it’s not surprise this has been 'Voted Best London Vintage Fair' You’ll find the best vintage traders from all over the UK and Europe selling everything vintage from quality women’s fashion, menswear, accessories & jewellery to mid-century homeware, posters, maps, ephemera, collectables, furniture, lighting & much more! Back in December last year I found this amazing 70s style short leather jacket there, Come rain or shine, this great piece of outerwear is the ultimate finishing touch to any outfit! It cost me £25 but new they retail at £200-£350! Total bargain!! And as you can see was all over the catwalks of LFW!! In the Pop-Up Vintage Fair I guarantee you’ll always find a bargain!
Frock Me !
My second go to vintage fair, is Frock Me! Vintage Fair in CHELSEA OLD TOWN HALL on KING’S ROAD. This place was established in the late 1990's and it's the original London vintage fair. It was started by Matthew Adams, who has been running antiques fairs and markets in London for 38 years and continues to run the popular 'Horti fair'. Its £4 entry and £2 entry with a NUS card. At this fair I found an Animal print silk slip dress which is the ultimate find and a must have as every celeb from Rhinanna to Zoe Kravitz is sporting one!! On the high street they go from £20-£30 but I found this Gem for a mere £8.00 in the Frock Me! Vintage Fair!!
Battersea Sunday Car Boot
My last to go to is “Battersea Sunday Car Boot” its every Sunday afternoon and has been going since 1999, yes, this is the one you’ve heard about, the one you’ve read about or the one you’ve seen on TV. This is the boot sale people talk about when they’re at other boot sales! And most importantly It’s the perfect place to hunt for cool clothes in good condition at knock-off prices.
Last year at Battersea Sunday Car Boot I found this unique off the shoulder top for the amazing price of £6.00! The off the shoulder top whether it be a top or dress have proven to be very on trend this season - with designers like Isabel Marant rocking this look on the catwalk - so when I found this top I was beyond happy so I rocked it at the Blowout Magazine Party back in February!
My 3 Top Tips when going to any Vintage Fairs or Car boots Sales:
Wear slip on shoes, easier when trying on clothes!
Wear a jumper and a dress an easy outfit to take on and off quickly when trying on bargain gems!
Take cash with you instead of using your card at the fair!!
So as you can see shopping on trend ethically and cheap isn’t impossible it’s a complete dream!! So go hunt for that on trend gem at a Vintage Fair or Car boot Sale near you !! You’re sure to find yourself an on trend bargain there !!
Have fun ! x
