Peter Singh
No we’re not all of a sudden having a nostalgia trip and talking about the Welsh sikh Elvis impersonator who shot to fame in the 80’s and sited Bob Geldof and The Clash as fans, were talking about the most exciting actor to grace our screens right now, who recently appeared in the hit The Personal History of David Copperfield. THIS Peter Singh has starred opposite Diane Keaton and Brendan Gleeson in the 2017 romantic comedy HAMPSTEAD, whilst also appearing alongside Sam Rockwell in the action/comedy BLUE IGUANA, and played Ravi Patel in Disney's CHRISTOPHER ROBIN. Is it any wonder we wanted to find out more?
Who is your celebrity crush?
Too many to mention mate. There are some very fine looking celebs out there, it’s kind of like the Golden Age of crushable celebrities right now.
What would you change your name to?
I’ve never thought about changing my name, always thought Peter kind of suits me. I do like how Peter is said in other languages though... Did you know Peter in Arabic is pronounced Boutros? That’s kind of cool. I might might change my name to that. Just Boutros though. No surname.
What is the most interesting thing you’ve read this week?
I’ve just finished reading Prisoners of Geography by Tim Marshal and I found it utterly fascinating. It’s about the ten maps that pretty much shape everything in global politics. Never been a big fan of geography, prefer history and that but I found that book un-put downable. And very illuminating in terms of what’s going on in the world right now.
What’s the most useless talent you have?
I can roll my belly. I’ve honestly never met anyone who can roll their belly as well as me. I always thought it was a useless talent but recently found it helps with digestion.
Do you speak any other languages? Are you good at accents?
Yes I speak Punjabi fluently and my Hindi and Urdu isn’t so bad either. I am good at some accents, others I find pretty difficult. I like learning new accents, obviously its something you have to do in this job.
What is your favourite place in the world?
Good question! Taktsang Palphug Monastery in Bhutan is a favourite spot of mine. And I also quite like visiting the Ruins of Hampi too, in Karnataka, India... Oh and home, which is currently in London.
3 things you can’t live without when you travel and why?
Phone, because its my phone. A rucksack, to carry stuff in. And a good pair of walking shoes, because I like going for long walks when I travel.
What is the one thing you wish you could do to look after the environment?
My carbon footprint is pretty good to be fair, well below average, but of course I could be doing a lot more. Eat less meat and I still find I’m using too much plastic.
Best advice you’ve been given?
Baby don’t worry, about a thing, cause every little thing, is going to be alright. I think Bob Marley sung that as a lyric too, but it still counts as sound advice.
If you weren’t scared what would you do?
Hand glide, bunjee jump, jump out of a plane - with a parachute. I’d like to do all those things but I’m shit scared of heights.
What do you do to cope with stressful situations?
Just take a moment, close my eyes and breath deeply. Exhale deeply. Repeat for two minutes. Works every time.
Go to fashion look?
That is a tricky one to answer. Not sure if this is a ‘look’ per se but my most overused fashion item was, until recently, the man-bag. No matter what I was wearing, if it didn’t look quite right, I’d just sling a man-bag over my shoulder and I was good to go.
