'Weird' Sounds: Renzo
We are really feeling smug right now! Why? Because we got a chance to interview Renzo. Who? Exactly! You might have not heard of this London- born musician yet but you soon will. His eccentric songs are refreshing and just plain weird, but he is quickly becoming one of our favourite artists. His latest song “Smile on the Inside” is literally on repeat and we can’t get enough.
Tell us a bit about yourself and the work you do. What makes you strive and what is important in life?
Hello I’m Renzo, I’m from West London and I make weird pretty music.
In life, I strive to be as weird as possible. The motivation behind that is that I believe a good story beats any other possible gains, every single time.
In my opinion, the most important thing in life is to always remember we are all on arock flying through space, the universe is so impossibly vast, we humans can't even comprehend it and the search for meaning will continue for generations. But that’s ok, so be nice to each other.
What was quarantine like for you?
Quarantine was basically my normal daily routine so it was pretty terrible. I was hoping this year would be the year to finally get going like many others, but nope. Starting to get somewhere now though, so staying positive.
What would you like to continue after quarantine?
My habit of doodling complete nonsense, I recommend it as an excellent stress reliever.
Thoughts on the BLM movement
It’s history in the making, I hope real change is coming and a collective shift in human consciousness can happen, too many ignorant people are still happy being ignorant. A long way to go yet but I’m hopeful, the momentum just needs to keep building.
What is the one item you realised you can’t live without?
My phone
What’s the one item you realised you actually don’t need or even want?
My phone
What have you missed the most?
Drinking in public
First place you want to go or travel to?
Siberia
What’s the one thing that has kept you sane during lockdown and why?
Creativity and mass distraction, because thinking too much is the worst.
What’s next for you?
Currently working on new music and a video for a previously released song so should be a fun time. Give me a follow @renzo_the_benzo if you want, (shameless plug I know but can you blame me?)
