Raw Talent: Alysha Ramos
It’s not often you meet someone with that ‘thing’ but when you see it boy do you know it. Singer-songwriter, Alysha, has it in abundance. Writing her first song at only 10 years old, it’s safe to say that Alysha Ramos has music in her blood. Born and raised in London, and of Cuban and Indian descent, this raw talent is definitely someone to watch.
As she is getting ready to release some new music we thought we’d get in there ahead of the game and find out what makes this girl tick. Ladies and gentleman please meet Blowout Magazines’ cover star Alysha!
Can you remember the moment you realised you wanted to do this professionally? Tell us about that.
Honestly, I can’t but I always knew I wanted to do music from a really young age.
You play both the drums and the piano, what was your first love? Did you play both of them on your new album?
I don’t play the drums or piano anymore. I used to when I was younger but I stopped playing them. I decided I should just focus on my singing and songwriting as they felt so much more natural to me.
How would you describe your music?
I would describe my music as if Lo-Fi meets R'n'B meets Pop.
When did you start writing music?
I started writing when I was ten but I started writing properly structured songs when I was 15.
Where do you draw your inspirations from?
I would say I draw my inspirations from love mostly. If not love, just strong emotions like anger.
What are your dreams as a musician, what does success look like?
My dream as a musician is to be well known for my expressions through my songs.
Tell us a story about yourself to make us understand/get to know you a bit better?
I’m Alysha, I’m 17 years old and half Indian and half Cuban. I've loved music my whole life and it’s so important to me that I can’t leave the house without my headphones.
Do you think music should be pure entertainment or do you think there should be a message with your music?
I think my music can be both. Behind my songs there’s always a story but you can also dance to them and enjoy them.
Now it is almost Christmas so how do you normally celebrate it?
My Christmas’ are very traditional. Presents, turkey and family. Recently though, my family and I have been going away for Christmas as my birthday is two days after.
Are you all in with the cheesy Xmas songs or do you hate them?
Yes! I love Christmas songs, they’re really fun to sing to!
What’s next for 2020?
Definitely more music and more studio time! I have already scheduled for my EP to drop in January so I’m really looking forward to that. I also co-wrote a track for the movie 'Fallen Dream' called Dreams and make a cameo appearance. The Movie should be out in 2020 so make sure you watch it.
